In short

Bookora suits a beauty professional, coach or consultant who needs services with a price and a duration, a client base with history, email and Telegram reminders, stats and consumables tracking, all on the phone. Calendly suits people who schedule online meetings and work on the web: 100+ integrations, round-robin for teams and payment through Stripe and PayPal. On price the two are close, Bookora Premium at $9.99 a month for two seats and Calendly Standard at $12 per user, and neither charges a commission.

Bookora, if you…

  • sell services with a price and a duration rather than schedule meetings

  • keep a client base with visit history, notes and a price of their own for regulars

  • want to set everything up from a phone, with no web dashboard

  • remind clients on Telegram, by email and on WhatsApp

  • count revenue, expenses and consumables in one app

Calendly, if you need…

  • online meetings on Zoom or Google Meet with a link in the invitation

  • integrations with a CRM, forms, email and payment through Stripe and PayPal

  • round-robin and routing of meetings between team members

  • a free plan for one event type without reminders

  • SMS reminders paid for with plan credits

Which tool for whom

Calendly is a meeting scheduler. It answers "when can we talk" and is good where a meeting is a Zoom link rather than a visit to your studio. Bookora is a professional's calendar: services with a price and a duration, clients with history, requests you accept or decline, and the numbers of the business.

Searches like "calendly for salons" and "calendly for therapists" exist for a reason: Calendly can be bent into client booking, but it has no per-client prices, no stock and no stats by service, and setup lives on the web.

Pricing and fees

Bookora sells a subscription and nothing on top of it: no commission, no paid add-ons. Premium costs $9.99 a month, $23.99 for three months (≈ $8 a month) or $59.99 a year (≈ $5 a month) and includes two seats, for you and a colleague. A team of 5 pays $39.99 a month for a pack, a team of 10 pays $69.99, a team of 20 pays $119.99. There is no commission on bookings or on clients. Without a subscription, Bookora is a calendar with a client base for one person: you can keep appointments by hand, but online booking, automatic reminders, Google Calendar and team seats open only in Premium.

Calendly: a free plan with one event type and one calendar, no reminders or payments. Standard is $12 a month or $10 billed yearly; Teams is $20 per user a month, $16 billed yearly. Calendly takes no cut of payments; the payments themselves go through Stripe or PayPal at their rates.

For one user the difference is small: $9.99 against $12 a month, $5 against $10 billed yearly. For a team of five Bookora costs $39.99 a month and Calendly Teams $100.

Online booking

In Bookora the booking page is a Premium feature. A client gets your link on WhatsApp or from your Instagram bio, picks a service, a day and a time, and leaves a name and a phone number. No app, no account. The request lands in your calendar and you accept or decline it. You set how far ahead booking is open (1 to 90 days), how much notice you need before a visit, the slot step (15 to 180 minutes), and a "next to existing appointments" mode that packs the day tightly, with no empty hours between clients. The client sees a link to your cancellation policy before confirming. The client sees only slots that are really free, and you decide which services are open for booking.

In Calendly the client picks an event type and a slot, then gets a calendar invitation and a call link. Event types are flexible, but they are meetings: no per-client price, no service category, no studio address that fills into the appointment.

Client reminders

On any plan Bookora drafts the message and opens WhatsApp with the text and the client's number: one tap, and you pay nothing for the message. On Premium, email and Telegram reminders go out by themselves: when an appointment is created, changed or cancelled, and 24 hours before the visit. This works in any country with Telegram and email and does not depend on local carriers.

Calendly sends email and SMS reminders from the Standard plan; SMS run on credits, 250 per user a month. In the US and Canada a message is free, in Germany, France and Spain it costs one credit, in Scandinavia and Switzerland three, so there the credits cover about 83 messages. Telegram and WhatsApp are not among Calendly's channels.

Team

In Bookora a team is seats. The owner invites staff with a one-time code or creates accounts for them; each has their own calendar, clients, services and booking link. On the shared booking page the client picks a specialist and lands in that person's calendar. The owner sees each team member's schedule and stats, and sets booking rules, reminder channels and message templates once for everyone.

Calendly's team is round-robin and routing: a meeting goes to whoever is free or to whoever a form picked. That is valuable for a sales team, and not for a salon where a client goes to their own specialist.

Analytics and consumables

Bookora counts revenue, expected revenue from upcoming appointments, expenses, your most frequent clients and services, the share of repeat visits and calendar occupancy, on the phone and at no extra charge. Consumables are tracked in millilitres, grams and units and tied to services with a usage rate; after each appointment the app calculates the write-off, you confirm the numbers and see a low-stock threshold. Personal prices are included too: give a client a percentage discount or remember their price for a service.

Calendly has no stock, no per-client prices and no stats by service: its reports are about meetings and their conversion. It does have coupons, meeting packages and invoices through Stripe.

Languages and Google Calendar

Bookora's interface comes in 9 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese, switchable right in the settings. Currency, 12- or 24-hour time and the first day of the week are yours to set. A client in another country sees your free slots in their own time zone, and on the confirmation in yours too, so an online consultant never has to convert hours.

Calendly comes in 5 languages. Both sync with Google Calendar: Calendly checks availability, writes meetings and pulls cancellations and reschedules from Google; Bookora syncs appointments, tasks and breaks both ways.

When Calendly is the better pick

Bookora does not win on every criterion. There are jobs Calendly is better suited to:

  • Your "booking" is an online meeting with a Zoom or Google Meet link.

  • You need integrations with a CRM, forms, email campaigns and payment through Stripe or PayPal.

  • Your team needs round-robin and routing of meetings between members.

  • You work at a desk and want a web dashboard.

  • A free plan with one event type is enough for you.

How to move from Calendly to Bookora

The move takes one evening and client contacts are not lost.

  1. Gather client contacts

Export the list of meetings with contacts as CSV from the Calendly web version, or collect names and phone numbers from your calendar and messages.

  2. Import the base into Bookora

Download Bookora from the App Store or Google Play and import clients from the CSV file or from your phone contacts. Names and phone numbers come in from the file; from then on you keep appointments in Bookora.

  3. Set up your services

Name, price, duration, category and colour. Mark which services are open for online booking and add your address; it fills into every new appointment by itself.

  4. Turn on Premium and set up the booking page

Booking window, minimum notice, slot step, the "next to existing appointments" mode and a link to your cancellation policy. For a team, invite staff with a one-time code.

  5. Replace the Calendly link

In your email signature, Instagram bio and messages to clients. You can keep the free Calendly plan for calls, if you still have any.
