In short

Bookora suits an independent professional or a team of up to 20 who run bookings from a phone and do not want to give up a share of each client: no commission, and a subscription of $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year for two seats. Fresha suits a salon that needs online payments and deposits, a till and a marketplace for finding clients: $19.95 a month per professional, $14.95 per additional team member, and 20% of the first visit of every client who arrives through the marketplace.

Bookora, if you…

  • work alone or with a team of up to 20 and run bookings from a phone

  • do not want to pay 20% of a new client's first visit

  • want a fixed $9.99 a month rather than $19.95 plus $14.95 per team member

  • message clients on WhatsApp and Telegram rather than by SMS

  • track consumables and give regulars their own price

Fresha, if you need…

  • deposits and online payment for bookings

  • a till, gift cards and a loyalty program

  • a marketplace with a flow of new clients, for a fee

  • SMS and WhatsApp reminders that go out by themselves

  • roles and permissions for a receptionist and staff

Pricing and fees

Bookora sells a subscription and nothing on top of it: no commission, no paid add-ons. Premium costs $9.99 a month, $23.99 for three months (≈ $8 a month) or $59.99 a year (≈ $5 a month) and includes two seats, for you and a colleague. A team of 5 pays $39.99 a month for a pack, a team of 10 pays $69.99, a team of 20 pays $119.99. There is no commission on bookings or on clients. Without a subscription, Bookora is a calendar with a client base for one person: you can keep appointments by hand, but online booking, automatic reminders, Google Calendar and team seats open only in Premium.

Fresha dropped its free plan and sells a subscription: $19.95 a month for one professional and $14.95 for each additional one on the Team plan, with a 7-day trial. On top of that Fresha takes 20% of the first visit ($6 minimum) for every new client from the marketplace; under the partner terms the fee also applies when the client merely viewed your marketplace profile before booking. Online payments cost 2.79% + $0.20 per transaction.

For one professional the subscription difference is roughly double. A salon with five staff pays Fresha $79.75 a month and Bookora $39.99, with no new-client fee on top.

These are US prices. In other countries' stores Bookora is sold in local currency, and in some countries Fresha has neither the new-client fee nor online payments; check the terms for your country on its pricing page.

Online booking

In Bookora the booking page is a Premium feature. A client gets your link on WhatsApp or from your Instagram bio, picks a service, a day and a time, and leaves a name and a phone number. No app, no account. The request lands in your calendar and you accept or decline it. You set how far ahead booking is open (1 to 90 days), how much notice you need before a visit, the slot step (15 to 180 minutes), and a "next to existing appointments" mode that packs the day tightly, with no empty hours between clients. The client sees a link to your cancellation policy before confirming.

At Fresha online booking is part of the subscription, with deposits and a marketplace where clients search for salons nearby on top. You pay a fee for a marketplace client and nothing for a client who books through your own link.

What Bookora lacks: automatic confirmation of requests (you confirm each one), branding of the booking page, client-side rescheduling and deposits. If you need deposits against no-shows, Fresha is stronger here.

Client reminders

On any plan Bookora drafts the message and opens WhatsApp with the text and the client's number: one tap, and you pay nothing for the message. On Premium, email and Telegram reminders go out by themselves: when an appointment is created, changed or cancelled, and 24 hours before the visit. This works in any country with Telegram and email and does not depend on local carriers.

Fresha sends email, SMS and WhatsApp messages: 100 free a month, then $0.02 per SMS. Bookora has no automatic SMS or WhatsApp, which is a real minus if your clients do not use Telegram and do not read email.

Team

In Bookora a team is seats. The owner invites staff with a one-time code or creates accounts for them; each has their own calendar, clients, services and booking link. On the shared booking page the client picks a specialist and lands in that person's calendar. The owner sees each team member's schedule and stats, and sets booking rules, reminder channels and message templates once for everyone.

Fresha's Team plan has shifts, permissions, and commission and payroll calculation. A salon with a receptionist and commission-based pay needs that set more than seats in a subscription.

Analytics and consumables

Bookora counts revenue, expected revenue from upcoming appointments, expenses, your most frequent clients and services, the share of repeat visits and calendar occupancy, on the phone and at no extra charge. Consumables are tracked in millilitres, grams and units and tied to services with a usage rate; after each appointment the app calculates the write-off, you confirm the numbers and see a low-stock threshold. Personal prices are included too: give a client a percentage discount or remember their price for a service.

Fresha tracks stock, and client discounts live in the paid Loyalty add-on at $59.95 a month per location, as rewards in the client's wallet rather than a price of their own for each client.

Time zones and languages

Bookora's interface comes in 9 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese, switchable right in the settings. Currency, 12- or 24-hour time and the first day of the week are yours to set. A client in another country sees your free slots in their own time zone, and on the confirmation in yours too, so an online consultant never has to convert hours.

Fresha's interface is multilingual too, and its website is translated into 33 languages, so on language the two are equal. The difference is elsewhere: almost everything at Fresha is done in the app, but the salon website and some settings need a desktop. Bookora has no web dashboard at all; everything from services to stats lives on the phone.

When Fresha is the better pick

Bookora does not win on every criterion. There are jobs Fresha is better suited to:

  • You need deposits or prepayment so that clients do not vanish: Bookora has no online payments.

  • The salon has a till, gift cards and a loyalty program; Fresha covers all of that in one product.

  • You are willing to pay 20% of a first visit for a flow of clients from the marketplace.

  • Clients expect SMS or WhatsApp reminders that go out automatically.

  • A receptionist needs permissions, shifts and payroll calculation for staff.

How to move from Fresha to Bookora

The move takes one evening and the client base is not lost.

  1. Export clients from Fresha

In the Fresha web version open the client list and save it as CSV. If export is not available on your plan, ask Fresha support for the file.

  2. Import the base into Bookora

Download Bookora from the App Store or Google Play and import clients from the CSV file or from your phone contacts. Names and phone numbers come in from the file; from then on you keep appointments in Bookora.

  3. Set up your services

Name, price, duration, category and colour. Mark which services are open for online booking and add your address; it fills into every new appointment by itself.

  4. Turn on Premium and set up the booking page

Booking window, minimum notice, slot step, the "next to existing appointments" mode and a link to your cancellation policy. For a team, invite staff with a one-time code.

  5. Share your link

Put it in your Instagram bio, send it to clients on WhatsApp and replace the Fresha link on social media. Cancel the Fresha subscription once the last appointment from the old calendar has happened.

Frequently asked questions

Does Fresha charge a fee for new clients?

Yes. Under the partner terms Fresha takes 20% of the first visit ($6 minimum) for a marketplace client, including when the client viewed your marketplace profile and then booked through your link. Bookora takes no commission on bookings or on clients: you pay the subscription only.

Does Fresha have a free plan in 2026?

No. Fresha dropped its free plan: $19.95 a month per professional in the US, with a 7-day trial. Bookora without a subscription is only a calendar with a client base for one person; online booking, automatic reminders, Google Calendar and team seats are Premium at $9.99 a month.

Which is cheaper for one professional, Bookora or Fresha?

Bookora: $9.99 a month against $19.95, or $59.99 a year, which is about $5 a month. Bookora Premium also includes a second seat for a colleague. The gap has a reason: Fresha includes card processing, a till and a marketplace, which Bookora does not have.

Can I move my clients from Fresha to Bookora?

Yes. Export clients from Fresha as CSV and import the file into Bookora; Bookora also imports clients from phone contacts. Appointment history from Fresha does not carry over; new appointments you keep in Bookora.

Does Bookora have online payments and deposits?

No. Bookora does not take payments or deposits; the client pays you directly, as before. If deposits are a must for you, Fresha is the better fit.

Is Bookora a Fresha alternative outside the US?

Yes. The app comes in 9 languages and is sold on the App Store and Google Play worldwide. Email and Telegram reminders work in any country, and store prices are shown in local currency.

Which is better for a nail tech, Bookora or Fresha?

If you work alone, run bookings from a phone and want no commission: Bookora, with Premium at $9.99 a month and personal prices and consumables tracking included. If you need a marketplace with new clients, deposits and a till: Fresha.
