How they are alike
Both services live on a subscription with no commission: neither Setmore nor Bookora takes a cut of bookings or brings in marketplace clients for a fee. Both have an online booking page, reminders and two-way Google Calendar sync on the paid plan. So the choice comes down to details rather than price: where your clients live, where you run the business from, and what you need to count.
Pricing
Setmore: a free plan for up to four users with online booking and one email reminder; Pro is $12 per user a month or $5 billed yearly. Bookora: Premium is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year (≈ $5 a month) for two seats, and without a subscription only a calendar for one person remains. For one professional the prices are equal billed yearly; month to month Bookora is $2 cheaper and comes with a second seat.
For a team Setmore's yearly billing is the better deal at $5 per user a month; Bookora's team packs are sold month to month only (5 seats $39.99, 20 seats $119.99). If you have a team and pay yearly, run both numbers.
Online booking
In Bookora the booking page is a Premium feature. A client gets your link on WhatsApp or from your Instagram bio, picks a service, a day and a time, and leaves a name and a phone number. No app, no account. The request lands in your calendar and you accept or decline it. You set how far ahead booking is open (1 to 90 days), how much notice you need before a visit, the slot step (15 to 180 minutes), and a "next to existing appointments" mode that packs the day tightly, with no empty hours between clients. The client sees a link to your cancellation policy before confirming.
At Setmore online booking is part of the free plan, and that is its main advantage over Bookora, where the booking page opens in Premium. Setmore's booking page is translated into 32 languages, takes payments through Stripe, Square and PayPal, and deposits on Pro.
What Bookora lacks: automatic confirmation of requests (you confirm each one), branding of the booking page, client-side rescheduling and deposits.
Client reminders
On any plan Bookora drafts the message and opens WhatsApp with the text and the client's number: one tap, and you pay nothing for the message. On Premium, email and Telegram reminders go out by themselves: when an appointment is created, changed or cancelled, and 24 hours before the visit. This works in any country with Telegram and email and does not depend on local carriers.
Setmore sends email reminders on all plans and SMS on Pro only, and under Setmore's policy SMS are not sent to more than 200 countries and territories, including Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Japan and the UAE. For a professional with clients in those countries Setmore's automatic reminders come down to email; Bookora adds Telegram to email, and WhatsApp in one tap.
Team
In Bookora a team is seats. The owner invites staff with a one-time code or creates accounts for them; each has their own calendar, clients, services and booking link. On the shared booking page the client picks a specialist and lands in that person's calendar. The owner sees each team member's schedule and stats, and sets booking rules, reminder channels and message templates once for everyone.
Setmore has four permission levels for staff but no commission calculation. The mobile app holds up to six staff; the rest lives in the web version. A Bookora owner sees staff schedules and stats right on the phone but does not set permission levels.
Analytics and consumables
Bookora counts revenue, expected revenue from upcoming appointments, expenses, your most frequent clients and services, the share of repeat visits and calendar occupancy, on the phone and at no extra charge. Consumables are tracked in millilitres, grams and units and tied to services with a usage rate; after each appointment the app calculates the write-off, you confirm the numbers and see a low-stock threshold. Personal prices are included too: give a client a percentage discount or remember their price for a service.
Setmore has neither stock nor per-client prices, only a manual discount and promo codes.
Languages and Google Calendar
Bookora's interface comes in 9 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese, switchable right in the settings. Currency, 12- or 24-hour time and the first day of the week are yours to set. A client in another country sees your free slots in their own time zone, and on the confirmation in yours too, so an online consultant never has to convert hours.
Setmore's interface comes in 4 languages, its booking page in 32. Google Calendar syncs both ways on both: on Setmore Pro and in Bookora Premium.
When Setmore is the better pick
Bookora does not win on every criterion. There are jobs Setmore is better suited to:
You need free online booking and your team is up to four people.
You take payments through Stripe, Square or PayPal and want deposits.
Your team needs permission levels and the $5 per user yearly price.
Your clients are in a country Setmore's SMS reach, and they expect SMS.
You prefer working from the web version on a desktop.
